If you are a high school student who:

  • Wants a occupation and career plan in place and be well prepared for post high school education and training opportunities prior to graduation.

  • Would like to get a head start on your career receiving technical classroom instruction and hands-on, paid, job site training.

  • Upon graduation, be guaranteed fulltime employment including livable wages and guaranteed wage increases.

  • Get employment benefits including health and life insurance, vacation and sick time, and 401Ks.

  • Receive occupational and technical instruction at the local community college where the employer pays a portion or all of tuition and fees.

  • Upon program completion, receive nationally recognized credentials from the U.S. Department of Labor that will identify you as a professional in the occupation.

Program Commitments:

From Student:

  • Commitment to series of Selection Process activities including

  • Complete application

  • Attend orientation meeting

  • Tour businesses

  • Complete assessment activities

  • Interview with employers

  • Possible drug screening

  • Work full time during the summer.

  • Attend occupational class and participate in paid on site training during senior year.

  • Upon graduation, commit to full time employment with sponsoring business, and continued classroom instruction.
     

From Employer:

  • Commit to hire up front.

  • Long term commitment to employ.

  • Must structure jobs within organization.

  • Must commit to pay student's post high school tuition.

  • Commitment of time and staff to properly train student.
     

From Parents:

  • Must agree to support student through Selection Process activities.

  • Adjust family schedule and provide student with transportation when necessary.

  • Support STRA Program, local school, and employer rules, regulations, and guidelines.

  • Market program benefits to school staff and other parents.
     

From School:

  • Support student during program selection and implementation activities.

  • Develop articulation program.

  • Aggressively market and promote program with students and parents.

  • Provide adequate, supportive staff to work with program coordinator throughout school year.
